⚽BOYS SOCCER - Division I
North Kingstown 3, Bishop Hendricken 0
Brayden Jenison scored the eventual winner in the first half and the Skippers added on in the second while blanking the Hawks, 3-0, in Division I.
North Kingstown threatened a couple times early before Jenison broke the ice in the 30th minute. Matia Bender slipped a pass left side and Jenison took over, touching it inside before curling a right-footed shot inside the far corner. That textbook finish made it 1-0 into the break.
The Skippers doubled their lead seven minutes after the break thanks to a foul in the Bishop Hendricken penalty area. Bjarne Maas saw his penalty kick saved but Casey Spitzer pounced on the rebound to fire under the crossbar and make it 2-0.
Spitzer was involved again as North Kingstown (10-3-0) salted this one away. He played a nice give-and-go down the right side that set up Zach Oatley to fire across the cage and in. That made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute, and there was no way back for the Hawks (7-4-2).
Connor Boyrque preserved his shutout in the 80th minute with a fine save on a shot from Donovan Torbett. Bourque parried a right-footed effort headed for the top corner over the crossbar and away from danger. The Skippers have two matches left at Barrington and home to South Kingstown while attempting to cement a top-3 seed in the upcoming playoffs.
