Why Erin Blanchfield Will Win
Erin Blanchfield possesses the elite grappling pedigree and suffocating pace necessary to overwhelm Jasmine Jasudavicius at UFC Edmonton. While the Canadian brings a distinct size and strength advantage to this flyweight clash, Blanchfield thrives when pressured and will actively use her opponent’s aggression to secure dominant positions.
“Cold Blooded” consistently chains her takedown attempts together with relentless forward pressure, averaging nearly two successful takedowns per fight. Once the fight hits the canvas, Blanchfield’s world-class jiu-jitsu and brutal ground-and-pound create an exhausting environment that breaks even the most seasoned veterans.
Jasudavicius relies heavily on her own physical wrestling to control opponents against the fence and grind out decisions. However, engaging in clinch exchanges with Blanchfield is incredibly dangerous, as the American excels at securing slick trips and throws from close quarters.
Furthermore, Blanchfield’s striking volume is significantly higher than the Canadian’s, allowing her to dictate the tempo on the feet while setting up her grappling entries. The American lands over five significant strikes per minute, a pace that will force Jasudavicius onto the back foot early.
Ultimately, Blanchfield’s superior submission threat and high-volume striking make her a stylistic nightmare for the hometown favorite. Expect the American contender to weather an early physical storm, drag Jasudavicius to deep waters, and secure a spectacular late-round submission to cement her title aspirations.
Why Jasmine Jasudavicius Will Win
Jasmine Jasudavicius possesses the sheer physical strength and suffocating clinch game necessary to stifle Erin Blanchfield’s momentum at UFC Edmonton. Fighting with the massive support of her Canadian fans, the hometown favorite will use her significant size advantage to dictate exactly where this flyweight contest takes place.
Blanchfield relies heavily on chaining takedowns to implement her world-class submission grappling, but she has rarely faced an opponent with Jasudavicius’s raw physical density. The Canadian excels at reversing positions against the fence, meaning Blanchfield’s aggressive forward pressure could easily result in her being pinned against the cage.
On the feet, Jasudavicius utilizes a stiff, probing jab to maintain distance and continuously disrupt her opponent’s offensive rhythm. By keeping the American at the end of her punches, she will force Blanchfield to take desperate, highly predictable shots from the outside.
If the fight does hit the mat, Jasudavicius has the heavy top control required to neutralize Blanchfield’s active guard and prevent slick submission setups. The Canadian’s ability to grind out grueling decisions makes her uniquely equipped to survive Blanchfield’s early onslaught and drag the fight into deep, exhausting waters.
Ultimately, Jasudavicius’s structural advantages and gritty style present a massive stylistic hurdle for the highly touted American prospect. Expect the resilient Canadian to stuff the takedowns, control the clinch, and secure a hard-fought unanimous decision victory in front of a roaring Edmonton crowd.
Final Erin Blanchfield-Jasmine Jasudavicius Prediction & Pick
This Saturday at UFC Edmonton, surging flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield faces a gritty test against Canadian hometown favorite Jasmine Jasudavicius. This high-stakes matchup presents a classic clash between elite technical grappling and raw physical strength.
Jasudavicius will undoubtedly look to utilize her significant height and reach advantages to maintain distance and stifle the American’s forward pressure. If the Canadian can force grueling clinch exchanges against the fence, she could potentially grind out an exhausting decision victory.
However, Blanchfield thrives in chaotic scrambles and possesses the relentless cardio necessary to constantly threaten with takedowns. Once the fight eventually hits the canvas, “Cold Blooded” operates at a world-class level that few women in the division can match.
While the hometown crowd will passionately rally behind Jasudavicius, the physical size discrepancy simply won’t be enough to neutralize the American’s superior jiu-jitsu. Expect Blanchfield to secure a crucial third-round takedown and lock in a statement-making submission to solidify her title hopes.
Final Erin Blanchfield-Jasmine Jasudavicius Prediction & Pick: Erin Blanchfield (-340), OVER 2.5 Rounds (-410)
