“Looking for a new winter scent? This is the one that’s earned me countless compliments.”
There’s no better time for a new fragrance than winter; whether you like the cosy cashmere-inspired notes or something deeper and smokier, it’s time to switch out those summery scents and embrace something darker. The richer, the better is our motto when it comes to winter scents.
And due to it being one of the best times of the year for perfumes, it can be highly competitive. Rather than sticking to a signature bottle, I end up switching them up daily. However, there’s one that stood out from the crowd, not only because of the scent itself but also due to the number of compliments it’s earned me whenever I’m wearing it.
While I’m familiar with a lot of the fragrances in Penhaligon’s extensive offering, Endymion Cologne Eau de Cologne has surprisingly gone under the radar. It may be the underdog of the brand’s lineup, but I’m here to make a case for it so it finally gets the hype it deserves.
Penhaligon’s Endymion Cologne Eau de Cologne
I got a sample of this perfume in a Penhaligon’s advent calendar a few years ago, and it’s lasted me well. I saved it for when I was travelling and needed something comforting or for a special occasion, mostly because it’s earned me countless compliments whenever I’ve worn it.
You might recognise the name and that’s because it’s linked to Greek mythology, specifically one of Zeus’s sons who was thought to be the most attractive. So you’re learning about a Greek legend and smelling good while doing so – what’s not to love?
If you’re into more masculine scents, this is going to be right up your street. As you can imagine, this does make you smell like a very good-looking man, with a complex blend of fresh coffee, peppery spices, zesty bergamot and soothing lavender. It’s like a crisp, clean white shirt in bottle form.
It’s distinctive and bold but not too heady or strong, which is why it’s such a versatile fragrance; you can wear it every day or as an evening scent, depending on your mood. It’s the ultimate woody, ambery blend, making it ideal for the winter months when we’re seeking comfort and cosiness.
Even better? I’ve found this lasts on skin brilliantly, so it’s not one to disappear by the time you’ve got to your desk in the morning or one cocktail in the evening. It’s incredibly long-lasting.
We’ll be the first ones to admit that winter fragrances have a lot of competition, but if you’re only after adding one into your routine for the colder months, I guarantee Penhaligon’s Endymion Cologne Eau de Cologne is going to be one that pays for itself in compliments.
