National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq issued production orders on Wednesday for two detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers. The orders cover Sanaullah Khan Masti Khel and Dawar Khan Kundi, who are reportedly in Punjab police custody. The move aims to ensure their attendance at National Assembly sessions.

The development followed a request from PTI, which had urged the speaker to issue production orders for nine detained members. In a letter sent on Tuesday, party Chief Whip Amir Dogar said the lawmakers remained in custody. He asked Sadiq to facilitate their participation in parliamentary proceedings.
Sadiq issued the orders under Rule 108 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007. According to the document, the speaker considered the presence of both lawmakers necessary during the session summoned by President Asif Ali Zardari on October 13.
The orders direct authorities to produce the two lawmakers before the National Assembly’s sergeant-at-arms at the start of each sitting in Islamabad. After each sitting concludes, officials must return them to the custody of the relevant authorities. The National Assembly Secretariat also circulated copies to senior federal and Punjab officials, Islamabad police authorities and the sergeant-at-arms for coordination.

The development comes amid heightened political tensions following the federal government’s imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday. The government cited what it described as the PTI-led provincial administration’s disengagement from counterterrorism efforts. The production orders now provide a mechanism for the two named lawmakers to attend parliamentary sittings while remaining subject to custody arrangements.
