Coming off an impressive 25-point road win over the Heat in Wednesday’s season opener, the Timberwolves are still in the state of Florida for Game No. 2 on Friday night in Orlando. They’ll be facing a good Magic team that dropped a close one against the Hawks in their first game.
How to watch or listen
- Timberwolves at Magic
- Friday, October 23
- 6 p.m. CT
- Local TV: DAZN
- Local radio: WCCO (830 AM)
The Wolves’ opener was a national broadcast on ESPN. This will be their first game of the regular season on their new home network with DAZN. It costs $20 per month for the standard package, which allows fans to stream on two devices in one location, or $25 per month for the ultimate package (five devices in two locations, among other perks). A seven-day free trial is available for both options.
To be clear, the DAZN subscription is only required for fans within the Wolves’ broadcast market, which includes Minnesota and some surrounding states. Out-of-market fans can watch through NBA League Pass, as has been the case in previous seasons.
Announcers
Fan favorite Michael Grady will be making a semi-rare appearance as the play-by-play broadcaster for Friday’s game in Orlando. Grady, who has a busy national schedule with Prime Video and NBC/Peacock, only called a handful of Timberwolves games last season. Most of the local broadcasts were led by longtime radio announcer Alan Horton, who has returned to the radio side of things this season.
Longtime Timberwolves television analyst Jim Petersen remains in the same role. Grady and Peterson will be joined by new sideline reporter Meghan McPeak.
It’s unclear how many Wolves games Grady will get to call this season. The team has also hired two big names in Kevin Calabro and Jon ‘Boog’ Sciambi to handle play-by-play, so it’ll be a rotation throughout the season.
Horton will call Friday’s game solo on WCCO Radio.
