DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) is fast becoming what one might call, unhinged, in Emmerdale.
Is it any wonder with Tate blood running through her veins? She has no idea how similar she is to the woman she truly despises.
Thea is Kim Tate’s (Claire King) adopted daughter, though only Thea and Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) know this thus far as Thea has been plotting how to make her reveal to Kim. She arrived back in town to cause Kim mayhem in revenge for the disrupted childhood she experienced from Kim’s actions, but she’s not been very good at it.
This was in part due to the fact she couldn’t work out her own feelings. Does she hate her? Does she want a relationship with her mum? There was even a moment she thought about revealing her identity after seeing Kim’s softer side.
But then Kim supporting Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) to give his son up for adoption brought Thea’s hatred right back.
Serena tried to warn her off her revenge plan, disturbed by how her friend has become increasingly unbalanced about the whole Kim thing. For now, though, there’s no talking sense into Thea, who is enraged that Kim has so flippantly given up another child.

Lydia and Kim foolishly discuss the child’s adoption openly – foolish because it’s been done in illegal circumstances – with Thea listening in. Her face darkens as she realises it’s happened again, just like it did to her – Kim has no regard for children. Another child thrown away like they don’t matter.
Serena tells her not to do anything rash, but Thea is too locked in on the prize.
A social worker turns up at Home Farm demanding to see Joe and the baby after a report of an illegal adoption. Wonder where they could have got that idea from.
‘She has to be very careful with how she brings about her theory that the baby is being sold in the first place’, star Chelsea Edge said.
‘If she rescues the baby and takes it to the police station, her superiors will ask how she knew all this was happening. How is she going to explain her involvement and knowledge of this? She’s gone way off the book. She wants justice.
‘She’s massively driven by justice and sees Kim as this person who has gotten away with a lot of crimes her entire life. She thinks this is the moment she can put Kim down.’
Thea is steadfast in her plan to bring Kim down and her plot escalates to the next level when she gains access to Kim’s phone. Now, with a little hacking, she can watch her every more. And more importantly, she can see all of Kim’s private messages.
She’s struck gold, but what does she find that she didn’t expect to see?
Teasing drama that lies ahead when Halloween arrives in the village, Chelsea added: ‘It is a big turning point. It all comes to a head, and there’s a real ‘like mother like daughter’ moment in their fieriness’ that we experience through Halloween – which is very fitting!’.
