Nigerian music stars Davido, Tems, Asake and Ayra Starr are seeking recognition at the 2027 Grammy Awards, with reported submissions across major categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
The submissions reflect the growing international ambitions of Nigerian artistes as Afrobeats expands its global reach and musicians seek recognition beyond Best African Music Performance.
Davido has reportedly submitted his album Oriadé for consideration in Album of the Year and Best Global Music Album, while songs including ‘B4 B4’, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, are among his reported entries in selected categories.
Tems has reportedly entered her project Love Is a Kingdom in major album categories. Her song ‘What You Need’ and collaboration ‘Raindance’ with British rapper Dave are also among the reported submissions.
Asake’s album M$NEY has reportedly been submitted for Album of the Year and Best Global Music Album. His entries also include ‘Gratitude’ and ‘Jogodo’, his collaboration with Wizkid.

Ayra Starr is reportedly seeking consideration with her album Starrgirl, while her collaboration with British singer Zayn, ‘Heaven Baby’, is among the reported entries in pop and major recording categories.
The submissions come amid Afrobeats’ growing international presence, driven by streaming, global tours and cross-border collaborations. For Nigerian artistes, success across broader Grammy categories would represent another step towards recognition beyond the African music field.
However, submission does not guarantee nomination. The official nominees for the 69th Grammy Awards are scheduled to be announced on November 16, ahead of the ceremony on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
