Vans is getting ready for the holidays with its newest collection and campaign.
On Monday, the VF Corp.-owned footwear brand released the second season of its “Meet The Vans” collection of shoes designed for the holiday season.
The collection includes a range of weatherized classics like the Sk8-Hi Gore-Tex insulated shoe and the Half-Cab Gore-Tex insulate shoe. Both of these styles feature breathable Gore-Tex waterproofing and All-Trac outsoles for grip across varied terrain, while the Sk8-Hi adds 200-gram Duratherm insulation for warmth.
The Off The Wall styles include party-forward, sequin textures in the Old Skool and Classic Slip-On styles, with wintry-plaid detailing designed on the Authentic and Old Skool models, along with all-over suede uppers and fluffy lining designed into the Mule Platforms.
As for the collection’s campaign, the spot explores an unconventional family during the holiday chaos. Under the creative direction of Thom Bettridge, it stars fashion journalist and former model Lisa Love and skate legend Geoff Rowley as well as rising artists Samara Cyn and Nettspend. Joining the Vans family this season are musician Devon Again, pro skateboarder Junior Gutierrez, pro snowboarder Mia Brookes and chef Laurent Dagenais.
This new release comes just days after Vans unveiled a new campaign featuring the SZA wearing the new styles from the first drop of her new collaborative collection. Captured by photographer India Sleem against California’s natural landscape, the campaign also features appearances by Vans Skate Team rider Zion Wright alongside models Caylee Blosenski and Isabella Carr, and the musician called Vans.
Last week also saw the release of a new colorway of Vans‘ popular Satoshi Nakamoto Era 95 Gems sneaker. The latest update features a tearaway navy canvas upper that gradually reveals a classic checkerboard underlay. Exposed foam at the collar delivers a deconstructed finish, while a printed primary lace with sandblasted bead detailing introduces texture to the shoe.
A repeating “Satoshi” print runs across the laces while multicolor gemstones are seen throughout the ankle collar. The sidewall receives a black and yellow hand wiped finish, resulting in a naturally worn-in patina, paired with a distressed foxing stripe. Underfoot, a translucent crystal outsole reveals “Satoshi Nakamoto” through the sole.
