The Seattle Seahawks need an answer at running back after what has been nothing short of a disastrous start to the season in that position.
Allowing Kenneth Walker III to depart for the Kansas City Chiefs is looking like an all-time bad decision from general manager John Schneider as the back continues to tear it up through the opening weeks of the season.
Seattle are also without their two starting running backs, Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price, through injury. Schneider has over a week to potentially find an option before the Seahawks play again next which ironically is against the Chiefs.
Whether Seattle are desperate enough to seek a blockbuster trade is yet to be seen but it would take Schneider to swallow some of his pride after failing to keep Walker in the Pacific Northwest. With the trade deadline still weeks away, Mike Florio has named one big-name back that the Seahawks could consider.
Mike Florio moots Seattle Seahawks trade for Saquon Barkley
Barkley will not be playing again this weekend for the Eagles after he has already been ruled out through his ongoing hamstring issue. Despite his injury problem, the prospect of a trade is not being played down by Florio for the 29-year-old running back.
“Between now and the Tuesday after Week 9, if you really want to get nuts, if you really want to get desperate, if you really want to make a commitment to the running game, you make a play for Saquon Barkley,” said Florio on PFT.
Sunday’s game in Philadelphia could say a lot about the plans for the future at the Eagles as a loss would take them to 2-4 on the year and without so many of their players. Although it must be stressed that the Eagles have not suggested they’re calling it on their season, the trade to allow Cam Jurgens to depart could provide other teams with some hope of prising away some of the Eagles’ players.
“Now that would be a lot of fun. I, Mike, don’t think it’s crazy based on what we’ve seen from the Philadelphia Eagles this year. Not only are they underperforming, but they’ve, as we know, been very aggressive in remaking the roster,” replied Michael Holley.
What a trade package would look like for Barkley to depart Philly is unknown, as the 29-year-old has not exactly made an electric start to the year. Barkley has only been able to rack up 182 rushing yards through the opening four games of the season and failed to score a single touchdown.
Regardless, he remains one of the key players on the Eagles’ roster and it is unlikely that Howie Roseman would be keen to allow Barkley to leave cheaply. The Seahawks have now gone to 3-3 on the season and may need an answer quickly if they are to turn their terrible run of form around.
