Rose became one of the most popular players in Chicago Bulls history. A Chicago native, Rose was selected as the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by his hometown team. In 2009, he earned NBA Rookie of the Year honors. Two years later, he won the NBA MVP and helped the Bulls reach the playoffs, going as far as the Eastern Conference Finals.
This past January, Rose’s jersey was raised to the rafters at the United Center alongside Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Bob Love, and Jerry Sloan.
To this day, Rose remains an active presence in the Bulls organization. In fact, Rose appeared at training and mingled with Wilson and Dailyn Swain. This season, Wilson is a Rookie of the Year favorite. He is also expected to carry the organization on his shoulders, at least partially, as they look to rebuild for the long haul.
A responsibility that very much mirrors what Rose had to do when he arrived.
The Bulls will begin the regular season on the road against the Toronto Raptors on October 21. Then, they will have their home opener against the Washington Wizards on October 24.
Rose’s appearance on Friday won’t be the last.
