Local sources in Badghis say that Haroon, the son of Abdulkhaliq Khan Chakar, a former jihadist commander, has been arrested by Taliban intelligence.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, October 11, that Haroon had not held a government position under the previous government and had been engaged in personal business activities.
According to the sources, Abdulkhaliq Khan Chakar is a well-known jihadist commander affiliated with the Jamiat-e Islami party and an influential figure in Badghis Province, particularly in Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital.
Haroon was reportedly arrested by Taliban intelligence on Friday, October 9, but further details about the reasons for his arrest remain unavailable.
