DAEJEON — The Daedeok Innopolis headquarters of the Innopolis Foundation said it held the 2026 Aerospace Deep-Tech Open Innovation Briefing with Korean Air (003490.KS) on the 15th at the Daedeok Connect Lounge inside the Daejeon Science Center.
The event aimed to link Korean Air's technology needs with technologies held by deep-tech companies in the innopolis, creating opportunities for follow-up cooperation such as field demonstrations and joint research and development, and ultimately building a sustainable ecosystem based on mutual trust and developing into strategic partners.
The briefing focused on supporting innopolis companies' entry into industrial fields by connecting Daedeok Innopolis's research and technology commercialization capabilities, built over more than half a century, with Korean Air's technology needs and demonstration capabilities in aerospace.
Sixty officials from innopolis companies in the aerospace and defense sectors attended, and Korean Air introduced its main businesses, technology needs, company selection process and follow-up support plans.
Korean Air presented two priority technologies: integrated navigation that determines the position and attitude of unmanned aircraft without GPS signals, and software development for testing and evaluating unmanned aircraft based on international standards. Companies may also propose core future aerospace technologies for medium- to long-term cooperation in areas such as unmanned aircraft, military aircraft, urban air mobility and space.
The Daedeok Innopolis headquarters and Korean Air will accept applications through Oct. 23 and plan to select about three companies that match the technology needs.
The selected companies will review the feasibility of demonstrations and joint R&D through one-on-one technology matching with Korean Air researchers in November.
The Daedeok Innopolis headquarters plans to continue follow-up support ranging from regulatory assistance to demonstration linkage and investment attraction.
"We will use this open innovation program to help innopolis companies with strong technology enter the aerospace and defense markets, where barriers to entry are high," said Lim Moon-taek, head of the Daedeok Innopolis headquarters.
