The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said investigations into corruption and money laundering allegations against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina are progressing, with no case files stalled.
ACC Director General Nazmul Hasan told reporters today (15 October) that the commission was taking steps to expedite investigations into high-profile cases involving Hasina.
He said joint investigation teams were regularly monitoring progress in major cases.
The allegations under investigation include alleged $5 billion corruption in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project, embezzlement involving Mujib Year programmes and concealment of assets in election affidavits.
The ACC has already submitted a charge sheet in a case involving alleged irregularities in plot allocation, while investigations into most of the other allegations remain incomplete.
Asked whether the commission had taken any initiative to bring Hasina back to Bangladesh, Nazmul did not specify any steps.
