Haliburton continued to shine early against the New Orleans Pelicans. He reached seven points in the quarter and added three assists with only one turnover.

His shot from beyond the arc is not clean, but a 1-for-4 start shows that Haliburton is feeling good and letting the ball fly. If the Pacers are going to be a playoff threat again in the Eastern Conference, they need Haliburton playing at the level he demonstrated back in 2024 and 2025. The Pacers had a solid two-year run in the East, making the conference finals in both seasons. They know what he brings to the table.
The Pacers need Hali out there because he makes everyone around him better. Indiana relies on everyone to contribute because they have a lot of proven scorers. Andrew Nembhard is a bucket, Pascal Siakam is a leader, Ivan Zubac is a beast in the paint, and Kelly Oubre Jr. can get you 15+ any night. When Haliburton is out there, everyone else sees their game rise.
Midway through the second quarter, the Pelicans hold a small lead over the Pacers. This will be a fun back-and-forth game until the end. Stay tuned to see who takes the season opener, as ClutchPoints will have it all.
