Addis Ababa, October 12, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia is marking the 19th National Flag Day with celebrations underway across the country and at Ethiopian diplomatic missions abroad under the theme “Our Flag for National Consensus and Unity.”
President Taye Atske-Selassie presided over the central observance in Addis Ababa, where participants gathered to commemorate the national occasion.
The celebrations are taking place simultaneously across all regional states and city administrations, government institutions, schools, and Ethiopian embassies and consulates worldwide, coordinated by the House of Peoples’ Representatives.
Among those attending the central ceremony were Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives Ahmed Shide, Speaker of the House of Federation Muferihat Kamil, Federal Supreme Court President Tewodros Mihret, Government Chief Whip Fikadu Tesema, senior Ethiopian National Defence Force officers, and invited guests.
This year’s theme places national consensus and unity at the heart of the observance, as Ethiopians across the country and abroad come together to honour the national flag.
