DL E&C (375500.KS), winner of the Grand Prize in the building division at the 2026 Korea Construction and Real Estate Industry Awards, recorded zero defect rulings from 2023 through the end of February this year, according to tallies by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's dispute mediation committee for construction defects. DL E&C also had the fewest cumulative defect rulings over the past five years among the top 10 builders by construction capability rating. The fourth consecutive year of zero defect rulings was made possible by rigorous quality control.
DL E&C treats customer satisfaction as a core competitive strength for a builder and runs a quality control system across the entire construction process. The process has four main stages: quality training at sites preparing to break ground, a full inspection of 30 essential items, 24 core quality checks, and data analysis and review. The structure links the entire process, from pre-construction training to essential and core inspections during the build and analysis of defect data after completion.
For sites that are one to three years past completion, the head office quality division separately inspects common areas. Drones are deployed for sections that are hard to check visually, such as retaining walls and slopes. Customer inquiries are managed on an integrated basis, with artificial intelligence-based speech and text conversion technology applied to satisfaction management.

The company is also broadening its use of data beyond quality control. DL E&C became the first builder in Korea to adopt the Palantir data platform in 2022, connecting data generated across planning, design, construction and maintenance. Drawing on data accumulated at about 200 sites, it is expanding AI use across cost, quality and design. AI analysis is also applied to decisions such as comparing design alternatives, forecasting risks and optimizing schedules and costs. An official at DL E&C said the company is raising productivity by systematizing the experience and data accumulated at sites so they can be used at other projects.
Results in its housing brands have followed. DL E&C launched its apartment brand e-Pyeonhansesang in 2000 and has since differentiated its residential products, expanding into the premium housing market through its high-end brand Acro. In a survey of 16,048 men and women in their teens to their 50s nationwide by the real estate platform Dabang, Acro was chosen by 46.1% of respondents as their preferred high-end apartment brand, ranking first for a sixth straight year. That brand strength has been borne out by demand in the presale market. Acro de Seocho, offered for presale in April this year, drew an average of 1,099 applications per unit from first-priority applicants.

DL E&C has operated in housing and building construction, civil engineering and plant businesses since its founding in 1939. It has taken part in infrastructure and landmark projects including the Gyeongbu Expressway, the Seoul subway, the National Assembly Building and the Olympic Stadium at the Jamsil Sports Complex. The company moved overseas early, completing a port project in Rach Gia, Vietnam, in 1966 and an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia in 1973 — the first Korean overseas construction project to earn foreign currency and the first overseas plant export, respectively.
An official at DL E&C said the company is expanding into future growth areas such as small modular reactors, power and energy, and data centers, building on the technology and engineering, procurement and construction capabilities accumulated in its existing businesses. The official added that the company will extend its reach into energy fields such as liquefied natural gas power generation and ammonia, as well as data centers, on the strength of its existing plant EPC capabilities.
