Lions Club of Dimapur Elite donates 15 white canes

Dimapur, October 16 (MExN): The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, District 322-D, donated 15 white canes to persons with visual impairment as part of Vision Week, being observed from October 8 to 18.Led by club president Lion Ritika Jain, the donation drive was organised to mark International White Cane Safety Day. The canes were distributed to beneficiaries, including elderly men, young adults and children, at Mother Teresa Old Age Home and Pordigal Orphanage.The initiative aimed to promote safe mobility, independence, confidence and dignity among persons with visual impairment. The white cane serves as an essential mobility aid, helping users navigate their surroundings more safely and independently.According to the club, the initiative reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion, accessibility and community service while highlighting the need to empower persons with visual impairment to lead more independent and confident lives.The donation drive was part of the club's ongoing efforts to support visually impaired persons and raise awareness about their needs and rights.
