The Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks will each carry several injury designations into Saturday night’s matchup as both teams complete the second half of a back-to-back.
Houston listed Reed Sheppard as questionable with a left knee contusion and bone bruise ahead of the 8:30 p.m. ET contest in Atlanta. Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet will sit out because of injury management after both played in Friday night’s 114-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Adams is out for left ankle injury management, while VanVleet will rest his right knee.

Sheppard also missed Friday’s victory because of the knee injury. The third-year guard recorded three points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes during Houston’s 128-110 season-opening victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
VanVleet finished Friday with 14 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals while shooting 4-for-10 from the field and 3-for-8 from 3-point range. Through two games since returning from the ACL tear that sidelined him last season, the veteran point guard has recorded 16 assists without a turnover.
Adams contributed four points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in nine minutes against San Antonio.
Rockets, Hawks enter matchup unbeaten despite injury concerns
Houston survived without Sheppard on Friday behind another strong performance from its young core. Alperen Sengun finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Amen Thompson added 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Thompson sealed the win by rejecting Victor Wembanyama’s potential game-tying attempt with less than a second remaining.
Atlanta’s injury report also features multiple names. RayJ Dennis, Keshon Gilbert and Jalen Wilson are questionable because of their two-way G League assignments. Mouhamed Gueye remains out with a left foot fracture, while Henri Veesaar is sidelined with a torn right ACL.
The Hawks enter the matchup following a dominant 128-81 road victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. The 47-point margin represented the largest win in franchise history.
Jalen Johnson led Atlanta with 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while Aaron Wiggins added 19 points off the bench on 7-for-9 shooting.
Both Houston and Atlanta enter Saturday at 2-0, but the Rockets will have to navigate the second night of their back-to-back without VanVleet and Adams while awaiting Sheppard’s final status.
