Spain’s Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) is studying whether to act on its own initiative over remarks by LaLiga president and Spanish federation vice-president Javier Tebas about Real Madrid TV, Mundo Deportivo reported on 17 October, citing EFE. The report describes an examination of possible action, not a confirmed disciplinary case or sanction.
CSD reviewing Tebas’s remarks about Real Madrid TV
The comments at issue were made on Friday 16 October, when Tebas compared Real Madrid TV’s communication methods with propaganda techniques used in Nazi Germany. He said the comparison concerned those techniques, rather than an ideology or Real Madrid supporters.

The CSD is considering whether to act ex officio, according to the report. It does not say that the council has opened formal disciplinary proceedings, referred the matter to the Tribunal Administrativo del Deporte or imposed a penalty.
Real Madrid responded by demanding Tebas’s immediate resignation from his positions at LaLiga and the Spanish federation. The club also criticised his remarks in strong terms. The dispute adds to the wider tension between Tebas and the Madrid club over his leadership, which has included calls concerning his position at LaLiga.
Tebas asks that his words and precedents be considered
Tebas responded on X that he was surprised by the news that the CSD was studying possible action. He asked that any review begin with an examination of what he had written and take relevant precedents into account.
His response does not confirm that the CSD has formally begun proceedings. Rather, it addresses the reported consideration and asks the sports authority to assess the full context of his comments.
The CSD’s next step remains undecided
The immediate question is whether the CSD will move beyond its reported consideration and take further action. Mundo Deportivo’s account provides no timetable or decision, and does not report a formal referral to the Tribunal Administrativo del Deporte.
Until the CSD announces a next step, the matter remains at the review stage described in the report. No disciplinary outcome has been confirmed.
