A 300B parameter language model working on a laptop seems quite unrealistic, but HP claims that the ZBook Ultra G3a can make this possible. The device has been launched by the company in the Indian market and the figures supporting the claims are huge. It has up to 192GB of unified memory out of which up to 160GB is dedicated VRAM and all this in a form factor of just 17.9 mm thickness weighing approximately 1.9 Kg. The processor of the device is AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO along with a 55 TOPS NPU. The cost of the laptop is Rs 2,89,990 excluding taxes.

HP ZBook Ultra G3a specs and features
There is a caveat here. HP associates this with the highest configuration, meaning up to Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and 192GB memory in total. No particular configuration is specified to apply to the starting price according to the announcement. Less powerful configurations would be associated with fewer memory available, thus the headline figures represent the maximum but not the standard.
The other aspect is power, and the laptop gains a new thermal design enabling it to use up to 100W of power, according to HP, which is 81.8% more powerful compared to the ZBook Ultra G1a with maximum power at 55W. This is almost twice the amount of power in a machine that is still under 2 kg of weight.
The screen size is 16 inches, and it uses 2.8K OLED display technology. The refresh rate can reach 120 Hz and is optional. The battery size is 96Wh and the use time up to 14 hours. The figure comes from the company’s test configuration and can be considered ideal.

A couple of additional options must be chosen at the purchasing stage: the 120 Hz screen, 5G connectivity, and 140 W/180 W GaN USB-C charger. The keyboard replacement will be easy for IT professionals because this laptop is aimed at businesses running large numbers of laptops. Security is provided by HP Wolf Security.
HP India’s Sanjeev Pathak, Senior Director of HP Solutions, said the laptop brings “AI at the edge” to a mobile workstation, so users can run advanced AI workloads and apply agentic AI to complex workflows.
