A cartoon penguin just walked into a bank. Not a crypto exchange or a decentralized trading app, but an actual nationally chartered US bank.
SoFi added the PENGU token, the digital asset tied to the Pudgy Penguins NFT project, to its trading platform on October 19, 2026. By the following day, the token had climbed 8.9%.
What SoFi actually did
SoFi, which operates as SoFi Bank, N.A., now lets its users buy, sell and hold PENGU directly through its banking app.
That matters because of who SoFi is. The company is the first nationally chartered US bank to offer crypto trading to consumers.
SoFi counts more than 15 million members. Every one of them now has PENGU sitting in the same app where they might check a savings balance or pay down a loan.
A technical signal joined the party
The listing was not the only thing traders were watching. Around the same time, a TD Sequential buy signal appeared on PENGU’s daily chart.
TD Sequential is a technical indicator chartists use to flag when a trend may be running out of steam. A buy signal suggests a downtrend could be nearing exhaustion.
The history here is part of why the signal drew attention. Previous similar signals on PENGU were followed by recoveries of approximately 77.64% and 66.94%.
Who is Pudgy Penguins, anyway
Pudgy Penguins started as an NFT collection, a set of digital collectible images of chubby penguins. Over time, it has grown into a broader brand.
PENGU is the project’s token. It launched on Solana, the blockchain known for fast and cheap transactions.
The total supply is 88,888,888,888 tokens.
The project has been open about its ambitions. Pudgy Penguins aims to bring PENGU to wide audiences across diverse markets, rather than keeping it confined to crypto-native circles.
The SoFi listing fits that plan. It pushes the token beyond the usual crypto exchanges and into a regulated banking environment.
What this means for traders and the market
For PENGU holders, the immediate takeaway is broader access. More places to buy a token can mean more liquidity, which generally makes it easier to trade without moving the price too much.
The TD Sequential signal adds a layer of optimism for chart-focused traders. Still, technical indicators are tools for weighing probabilities, not crystal balls, and two prior rebounds do not guarantee a third.
The bigger story may be SoFi itself. Its choice to list a token born from an NFT project shows the bank is willing to go beyond the most established digital assets.
