The event marked the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Intent. The declaration laid the foundation for informal regional cooperation under the PCOCP and has significantly enhanced operational collaboration in the fight against organized crime, the press release said.
The PCOCP brings together 15 organized crime prosecution offices from 14 European countries. The conference was opened by Mladen Nenadic, Serbia’s Chief Public Prosecutor for Organized Crime, Federico Perrone Capano, prosecutor for the Italian Antimafia and Antiterrorism Directorate, Jan Braathu, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and Alexander Titolo, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Belgrade.
During the conference, Spain’s Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime officially joined the PCOCP by signing the Declaration of Intent. A formal invitation was also extended to France to join the network, the press release said. The TOK explained that the initiative aims to foster greater European cooperation in combating organized crime while facilitating the exchange of expertise, best practices, and operational experience among prosecution authorities.
Because modern transnational crime and corruption know no borders, uncompromised international cooperation and a united prosecutorial front represent the only effective weapons to defend the rule of law, the TOK statement said.
