The Detroit rap expressionist Zelooperz and the avant-rap producer Black Noi$e have done a whole lot of work together over the years, and they're about to release a lost album that they recorded almost a decade ago. Zelooperz and Black Noi$e started working together in 2017, when both of them were living at the Bruiser House, the home base for Danny Brown's Bruiser Brigade crew. Over two years, they recorded a full collaborative album that they finished in 2019, but then they lost the hard drive where they'd been keeping it. Black Noi$e has since recovered that hard drive, and the resulting album, entitled Pin Breakers, comes out next month.
Pin Breakers gets its title from a shoulder injury that Black Noi$e suffered at a Glendale bowling alley, and it's Zelooperz' first release for Earl Sweatshirt's Tan Cressida label. There's only one guest on the record, and that's Danny Brown. Lead single "Beautician" is a hazy boom-bap workout that's full of personality even though it's barely longer than one minute. Check it out below.
