• The Nzimandes have faced bizarre public drama, but have continued to weather the storm through faith and remain a solid unit

Gospel singer Dumi Mkokstad has built a career on moving audiences to tears with his worship music, but the life he has built at home tells an equally compelling story. Behind the platinum records and sold-out performances stands a devoted husband and father who credits his family as his most meaningful calling.

Born Mdumiseni Nzimande, Dumi formalised his union with Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, formerly Mdluli, in 2019 after paying lobola. The couple marked their seventh wedding anniversary in June 2026, a milestone that reflects nearly a decade of partnership rooted in shared Christian values.

Who is Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande?

Dr Ziphozenkosi is a Haematology Registrar whose demanding medical career runs parallel to her role as a supportive pillar in Dumi's music ministry. The gospel star regularly takes to social media to celebrate his wife's professional achievements, describing her as his greatest blessing and anchor.

Their online presence frequently features devotionals, family time, and Sunday worship moments, painting a picture of a household where faith sits at the centre of everything.

The couple are raising three children together. Likuwe Nzimande is Dumi's eldest daughter, born from a previous relationship, and is embraced fully within the family home. Lenan'izulu Nzimande, the couple's first child together, arrived in 2022, followed by their second, Neyame Nzimande, in 2023. The family regularly appears in matching holiday outfits and portraits shared across social media.

Weathering public scrutiny and standing united

Living as a prominent Christian couple in the public eye has not always been straightforward. Their 2019 wedding was overshadowed by social media speculation involving a former partner, an episode Dumi later acknowledged caused him significant emotional pain during what should have been a purely joyful occasion.

In 2023, things took an even stranger turn when an unknown woman showed up uninvited at his parents' home in KwaZulu-Natal, claiming to be his legitimate wife.

The singer faced even more backlash on 14 October 2026 when several private messages believed to be from the star were leaked on social media.

Dumi has spoken openly about how protective he feels of his wife during moments of public controversy, noting that her distress becomes his own. Rather than engaging publicly with rumours, the couple has consistently chosen to present a united front, drawing on their faith and keeping the focus firmly on their children's wellbeing.

For the Ukuhlala Kuye singer, the stage may be where millions encounter his gift, but home is where his true purpose lives.
