The body of a woman who went missing after taking a lift on a bike with an unknown man has been found in a suitcase in Amsterdam.
Police said the remains were discovered last Friday in the Amstel river and identified as a woman named as Hajar, who was last seen two weeks ago near the Rai conference centre.
She left in the direction of Buitenveldert on October 4 on a black ladies’ bike with a man whom police are now trying to trace.
Police would not confirm reports on AT5 that a passer-by found the suitcase containing the body on Saturday morning, or that messages were sent to local neighbourhood app groups later that day asking if people had noticed anybody acting suspiciously with a suitcase.
She is described as between 1.65m and 1.70m tall with dark curly hair and dark eyes. The day before she was last seen alive she was wearing a tiger print dress and white New Balance shoes.
Anyone who saw Hajar between October 4 and October 17 or has any information can contact police on 0900 8844, via www.politie.nl, or anonymously via 0800 7000 or at Meld Misdaad Anoniem.
