Penn State and Robert Morris are each searching for their first win of the season. Penn State enters the matchup with a record of 0-3-0, while Robert Morris is 0-4-0 at the start of the day. Penn State dropped its home opener to Quinnipiac in its last game. After jumping out to an early lead on Quinnipiac, the Nittany Lions gave up six consecutive goals in the loss.
Kale Dach has registered a point in each of Penn State's first three games of the season with two goals and two assists to lead the team. Mac Gadowsky and Justin Larose are each multi-goal scorers for the Nittany Lions early on. The freshmen players on the team lead the team with four goals scored, and the sophomores on the roster have piled up 9 assists to lead the Nittany Lions. While it may have been rough going early on for the Penn State program, the future does have some bright spots on display so far.
Robert Morris has struggled to get the offense working in the first few games of the year. The Pioneers return leading scorer Jackson Reineke after scoring 11 goals with 15 assists for the team last season. Robert Morris is near the bottom of the nation in average shots on goal per game (20.25 shots per game, 54th out of 57 teams).
Penn State leads the all-time series with Robert Morris, 8-4-0, with the last meeting coming in January 2020 (a 6-2 victory for Penn State). Penn State is 3-0-0 against Robert Morris in games played in the Pegula Ice Arena. Tuesday night's game is the first part of a split home-and-home series this season. Penn State will visit Robert Morris later in the season on Feb. 7, 2027.
