From Demi Moore and Vittoria Ceretti to Adriana Lima and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, some of the biggest names at this weekend’s Academy Museum Gala and Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles had one thing in common: meticulously prepped skin.
Behind the scenes, celebrity facialists Mimi Luzon, Keren Bartov and Shani Darden relied on high-tech devices, targeted ingredients and customized treatments.
For Ceretti, who attended both the gala and fashion show, as well as fellow runway stars Lima, Irina Shayk, Alessandra Ambrosio and Precious Lee, Luzon combined technology with her signature precious-metal masks.
Her toolkit included Oligio monopolar radiofrequency for tightening and refining texture, InMode bipolar radiofrequency, and Sofwave for lifting and sculpting the face, neck and body.
“It’s really important that we don’t have any downtime,” Luzon, in town from Israel, explained, emphasizing the immediate effects of Oligio on the jawline.
Luzon layered her signature 24-karat gold mask over a professional-use DNA mask, massaging the treatment to enhance absorption. The combination, she says, helps stimulate circulation, support collagen production and promote a more even skin tone. She also customized her approach with silver masks for sensitive or acne-prone skin and platinum for firmness, while introducing Exogold, a new formula combining peptides, exosomes and gold.
“I’m choosing the metal mask according to the skin type of the girl,” Luzon said. “But most of the girls we did the gold mask.”
For Bartov, who visited from London, her Academy Museum Gala roster included Moore, Adrien Brody, Eiza González, Jodie Turner-Smith, Karlie Kloss, Leslie Mann and Mikey Madison, while Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Joan Smalls and Amelia Hamlin received her Victoria’s Secret preparation. Her clientele also includes Kim Kardashian, who attended the gala, and Julia Roberts.
“What they want for this event is to sculpt and tighten the skin and make the skin glowing, like glass skin,” Bartov said. She explained that combining multiple devices in one treatment helps achieve the best results.
Her devices included Onda’s Coolwaves technology for facial contouring, Lumenis radiofrequency for delicate areas, TriLift for facial muscle stimulation and Geneo ultrasound to enhance product absorption. Lymphatic drainage massage and enzymatic exfoliation preceded treatments incorporating her Booster Peel & Glow Serum, a hero product, Advanced Skin Serum, Exovive Serum, Wake Up Skin Serum and peptide-rich moisturizer.
“To see the best result, you must be consistent,” Bartov said. “It’s like the gym.”
Darden, meanwhile, prepared Jessica Alba for the Academy Museum Gala and Huntington-Whiteley, Shayk and Ashley Graham for Victoria’s Secret.
Her approach combines a light chemical peel, the inspiration for her Triple Acid Signature Peel, with vibration therapy, LED light, microcurrent, cryotherapy and oxygen treatments.
“Before a big event, I never want to do anything too aggressive,” Darden, based in L.A., said. “It’s really about bringing out their glow, sculpting the face, and making sure the skin looks its absolute best without any downtime.”
