TransPeshawar has rejected claims circulating on social media about the transfer or theft of Peshawar BRT buses, saying the viral footage actually shows newly purchased vehicles arriving in Peshawar.
Officials clarified that two videos had been shared with misleading claims. The nighttime footage dates back to August 2026, while the video filmed during daylight was recorded in October 2026.
According to TransPeshawar, both clips show the delivery of new buses purchased for the city’s BRT system this year, rather than vehicles being removed from its fleet.
The authority said it had acquired 52 additional buses, of which 25 have already reached Peshawar. The remaining 27 are scheduled to arrive this week.
Once all the new vehicles join operations, the total number of buses in the system will reach 296.
The clarification counters suggestions that the footage shows Peshawar’s buses being taken elsewhere. According to the authority’s account, the vehicles are coming into the city to expand its public transport fleet, not being transferred out.
