Lagos State University (LASU) has reopened its 2026/2027 Indigeneship Verification Exercise portal for JUPEB and other Direct Entry candidates of Lagos State origin who are yet to undergo the screening.
The university announced the development in a post on X, stating that “The Vice-Chancellor has graciously approved the re-opening of 2026/2027 Lagos State University Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IIVE) portal for JUPEB and other Direct Entry (DE) candidates only.”
LASU clarified that the special window is strictly for eligible candidates who selected the university as their first-choice institution during the 2026 JAMB registration and have not participated in the Indigeneship Verification Exercise.
“For emphasis, this window of Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IVE) is for JUPEB and other Direct Entry candidates that chose LASU as their First Choice Institution during the 2026 JAMB registration, and are indigenes of Lagos State but yet have not yet participated in the Indigeneship Verification Exercise,” the university stated.
The special verification window will run from Monday, October 12, to Friday, October 16, 2026.
Explaining the importance of the exercise, LASU said, “The Indigeneship Verification Exercise is a mandatory pre-admission screening conducted by Lagos State University for all candidates of Lagos State origin.”
The university added that the exercise is administered by the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC) and serves as a prerequisite for admission consideration.
“No Lagos State indigene candidate can be offered admission without first being cleared through this process,” LASU stated.
The screening venue for candidates from all Lagos State divisions is the New TETFund Building, Faculty of Arts.

Eligible applicants are required to confirm their eligibility, make payments through the university’s official online payment platform and complete their registration on the portal.
LASU warned candidates against making payments through unauthorised channels, stating: “Do not pay through any individual, agent, or unofficial account.”
It further cautioned that “any candidate who pays through an unauthorised channel does so entirely at their own risk.”
Candidates are expected to keep their payment receipts and registration confirmations and present them during the physical screening alongside their original documents, including their JAMB Direct Entry slip and evidence of Lagos State indigeneship.
The university said candidates who successfully complete the verification will receive an LASU Indigeneship Clearance Certificate, which is required before an admission offer can be processed.
However, it stressed that the certificate does not guarantee admission.
Affected JUPEB and other Direct Entry candidates were advised to attend the screening within the stipulated period and contact the LASU Admissions Office for further guidance where necessary.
