There are few better feelings than lighting a new candle on a dark winter night, and scent is particularly evocative at Christmas, so when I found out that Sentier’s Advent calendar – packed full of candles and fragrance – is only £109 and saves you £420, I knew I had to get my hands on it (and tell you all about it).
After opening every single drawer and trying each perfume and candle, I can safely say it’s a great option for anyone who loves scent, offering a curated introduction to Sentier’s array of perfumes. The best bit? Any you don’t love at first sniff, you can just re-gift come Christmas Day. Unfortunately for my siblings, I’m not sure there are any I’m willing to part with.
Here’s what makes this festive collection worth investing in and keep scrolling for a full spoiler list of everything inside.

Editor’s picks:
Scent-filled Advent calendars are often some of the best-value options on the market, but this is a particular delight that comes presented in an elegantly designed festive box. It contains a really considered selection, with 12 days of ‘scent stories’ to discover. Inside the illustrated drawers, you’ll find six fragrances and six scented candles, including the hero Ardent Cherry Extrait de Parfum, a rich blend of black cherry, warm spices, amber and sandalwood. The Parisian Embrace is so delicate and delicious, and lasted a lot longer for me than others with similarly delicate base notes (the note responsible for whether a scent stays around for a while after it’s been sprayed).
Of all the beauty Advent calendars I’ve tested this year so far, this has been one of my favourites. I was impressed with the size of the candles, although I should flag that the perfume bottles are travel sized. But to put things in perspective, the full-sized perfumes from Sentier cost £112 each, so this calendar is cheaper than just one full-sized bottle of one of the brand’s signature scents. I can’t get enough of the Whispering Spell Candle, which I’ll be re-ordering as soon as I’ve fully burnt through my other five.
While I work my way through those, here’s a full list of everything included in the calendar, in case you don’t mind spoiling the surprise.

Sentier Advent calendar unboxing
How I tested the Sentier Advent Calendar
After assessing the quality of the packaging, I spent a very enjoyable Sunday evening opening each door, spritzing and sampling the fragrances over the space of a few hours (so that my lounge didn’t smell too strong) and working out which were my favourites, considering longevity on the skin. I then lit a different candle every night for the next week, judging them on scent throw, burn time and whether they produced a calm flame.
My final verdict on Sentier’s Advent calendar
The scents linger like a luxury fragrance, and the candles fill an entire room with a relaxing, comforting smell. When combined with the elegant packaging, this calendar feels like a worthy investment, particularly if you decide to re-gift a few of the products and save yourself some cash come Christmas.
