BEIJING: Malaysia welcomes China's proposals to expand technology and knowledge transfer, as both countries seek to deepen strategic cooperation beyond conventional investment arrangements.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the initiatives were among the key proposals raised by Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang during their meeting here today, reflecting Beijing's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
He said Malaysia viewed the proposals positively, particularly China's willingness to share expertise and technology through joint projects, including the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
"He (Ding) also proposed several new initiatives for Malaysia to consider, reflecting China's intention to transfer not only technology but also knowledge, which I believe is very welcome," he told reporters here today.
Earlier, Zahid, who is on a five-day working visit to China, paid a courtesy call on Ding at the Great Hall of the People. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes. — BERNAMA
