Huge news for anyone who’s always dreamt of dressing like an Animal Crossing character (albeit a particularly dapper one) – Uniqlo x JW Anderson has arrived for autumn 2026.
The collection is enviably preppy, whimsical, and somewhat adorable. Oh, and totally unisex. The beauty of the ongoing collaboration between Uniqlo and Jonathan Anderson’s eponymous label, is that there’s always a rock-solid theme.
Where SS26’s collection was dedicated to dragging prep kicking and screaming into the 2020s from its naughties origins, AW26 evolves the concept, taking academia into a more playful setting, all the while acknowledging the vintage motifs of its roots.

The Standard
Entitled ‘Stage Notes’, this collection celebrates not just collegiate iconography, but – in its own words – “the spontaneity of artistic expression”. Conjuring the peppy excitement of a deluge into theatre, Stage Notes taps into all the excitement and fanciful impulsiveness of a school play, a feeling we mere adults have all but lost touch with.

When I was first set free in the Uniqlo showroom, I was quickly pulled into the orbit of this brushed wool blouson jacket in all its boxy glory. Swapping the usual saturation of autumn for something more cool-toned, this pick is kept playful by its blue/brown check design, while the lightweight nature of the piece makes it easy to throw on and off throughout the changeable temperatures of an autumn day.

New for this season, however, Uniqlo x JWA have released a more pyjama-inspired take on their emblematic shirt, constructed of soft flannel with a spread collar and checked pattern.
