Jordyn Tyson has traveled to Paris with the New Orleans Saints ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving some to speculate whether he could make his NFL debut on Sunday.
However, the trip has not led to an immediate return to practice for the No. 8 overall pick.
On Wednesday, general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed that Tyson wouldn't practice this week, despite making progress in his recovery. Loomis said the Saints first-round pick was improving and that the team felt it was getting closer to his return, but didn't provide a specific timetable.
The latest news means Tyson will miss the Saints' game in Paris on Sunday. New Orleans has a bye in Week 8, so the earliest he could make his NFL debut would be Week 9, when the Saints host the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 8.

Tyson first suffered the injury, a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, during joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 13 in preseason. The Saints later placed him on injured reserve, and early reports were that he could miss around two months. With the team now officially past the two-month mark, there was hope he could be back before the bye, but that ship has sailed.
The delay is particularly concerning because Tyson came into the NFL with a lengthy injury history. He suffered a serious knee injury at Colorado in 2022, broke his collarbone during his 2024 season at Arizona State, and then missed the last three games of his 2025 season with two separate hamstring injuries.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore has said that the current hamstring strain is unrelated to the issues he had last year in college, but New Orleans is clearly taking a cautious approach given his injury history.

Tyson hauled in 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns in just nine games last season with the Sun Devils. The year prior, he posted 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns on 75 catches, averaging 14.7 yards per catch, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors both years.
He was considered by some to be the best wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, so getting him back would provide a massive boost to Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, providing him with another reliable target next to Chris Olave.
