Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys kept their off-screen romance private while filming the early seasons of The Americans, but the actress has now admitted she found the secrecy "insane" and "sexy."
Making several risque comments about their physical relationship on the Dear Chelsea podcast, the 50-year-old admitted: "We were like falling in love and staying up all night and like having sex all the time and just like wearing disguises, like, I'm [expletive] in crazy wigs and like wearing pearls.
"Have you ever worn pearls and like, [expletive] in trailers and [expletive] everywhere? I mean, it was insanity. It was so fun and sneaky, and sexy, and so good."

The couple reportedly first crossed paths in the early 2000s at a kickball tournament after-party in Los Angeles, but they didn't reconnect until being cast opposite one another in the Cold War thriller in 2012.

Recalling an embarrassing voicemail he left after their first meeting, Matthew said on Watch What Happens Live: "I had a bit to drink, so I asked for her number. I left a very drunken message on her answering machine."
Keri later admitted she had forgotten about their first meeting when they started filming The Americans until Matthew reminded her during stunt training.

In December 2013, Keri confirmed that she had separated from her husband Shane Deary, with whom she shared children River and Willa.
Keri and Matthew's professional relationship turned romantic, and they went public with their romance in 2014, two years after they started filming. They went on to welcome son Sam in 2016.

When asked about whether she plans to wed her partner of 12 years, Keri dismissed the "antiquated" concept of marriage, explaining that their son solidifies an unbreakable lifelong bond.
Defiantly, she added: "I don’t need my last name to go away. I’m cool. If you wanna be here, be here. If you don’t, that’s cool too."
Matthew confirmed he respected this boundary when he joked about their marital status during his 2018 Primetime Emmy acceptance speech. "She told me, 'If you propose to me, I will punch you clean in the mouth.' So I'm not going to propose, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart," he said.
