Oklahoma football will head into its next game against Kentucky with momentum on its side after pulling off an upset against Texas. However, ahead of the matchup, the Sooners have received a significant boost to their offensive line as Michael Fasusi moves closer to returning from a shoulder injury.
NFL insider Pete Thamel reported that Fasusi is questionable for the upcoming game, along with Eddy Pierre-Louis and Eli Bowen.
“Michael Fasusi is questionable for Oklahoma, along with Eddy Pierre-Louis and Eli Bowen. Kentucky tailback CJ Baxter is questionable,” Thamel wrote.

The sophomore left tackle has been sidelined since the season opener, but head coach Brent Venables provided an encouraging update on his recovery this week.
During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Venables said that Fasusi was approaching a return to the field.
“He’s just about ready,” Venables said. “I’m excited. Everybody’s excited to get another really good player back, and he’s worked relentlessly. He’s in great shape. You saw him in pregame, amped up and ready to go.”
Fasusi initially injured his shoulder during training camp and appeared to aggravate the issue in Oklahoma’s season-opening win over UTEP. He played only 17 offensive snaps before leaving the game and has not appeared in a game since.
The Sooners were also without Fasusi for their recent Red River Rivalry matchup against Texas, despite earlier hopes that he might be able to return.
Getting Fasusi back would be a significant boost for the Oklahoma offense. The sophomore started 10 of the 11 games he played as a freshman in 2025 and entered this season with considerable expectations after earning Preseason Second Team All-SEC recognition.
For now, the Sooners will have to wait for further updates before knowing whether Fasusi can return against Kentucky.
