IMPHAl, Oct 12: Even as the BJP-led Government has claimed peace has returned, many civilians continued to be killed and houses burnt in Manipur, said CPI Manipur State Council spokesperson RK Amusana at Irawat Bhawan today.
Speaking to reporters, the spokesperson said the unrest in the State, in absence of concrete measures to curb violence, has risen.
The Central Government and the State Government have not taken any meaningful action to curb violence and resolve the conflict since May 2023, he said.
He likened the State Government to a "dummy Government which serves to protect the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister."
Commenting on the prevailing tension in the hills, Amusana said CPI strongly condemns the recent brutal killing of nine people. The State Government must not remain silent. It must take immediate steps to serve justice to families of people who have been killed in the conflict, he added.
