THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expected to reopen the northbound lane of Dimasalang Bridge before Undas as the agency expedites rehabilitation works.
“The (completion) of this bridge is critical, once we finish asphalt works, we will reopen the bridge to the public,” Public Works Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon said in a media release on Monday.
The agency closed the bridge in May to give way for the second phase of its rehabilitation and repair works.
Mr. Dizon said that the ongoing asphalt works at the bridge and railings installation will help strengthen the bridge’s overall structure.
The DPWH is working on several road rehabilitation projects in 2026, including Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, the Andaya Highway linking Quezon and Camarines Sur, the MacArthur Highway in Apalit, Pampanga, the Buot-Taop Bridge in Cebu City, the Oyungan Bridge in Iloilo, the Tubod-Nabuna Bridge in Aloran, Misamis Occidental, and the Maharlika Highway.
Last month, the agency said it is targeting to start the rehabilitation of Metro Manila’s Circumferential Road 5 within the year. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
