Some streets in Kaduna have been taken over by All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters who trooped out for the Saturday formal launch of 2027 President Bola Tinubu campaign rally
Hundreds of party supporters from all sections of the country, particularly the North have been trooping into Kaduna over the week to grace the event expected to be flagged-off by Mr Tinubu.
The influx of supporters into Kaduna underscores the significance attached to the rally by party members, particularly in the Northwest, where the APC seeks to consolidate its political support.
Many party supporters who spoke during interviews said they were in high spirits for the event.
“We arrived from Kano yesterday evening and have been celebrating all night for this event. The weather is hot but we are ready to bear the heat for this historic flag-off by Mr President
“We want to witness history and tell the story and message of Mr President to those who cannot make it,” said a party supporter who identified himself as Mubarak.
A female supporter who identified herself as Mary Iliya from Southern Kaduna said she has been looking forward to the event to hear from the president and other party stakeholders.
“We are here live to hear from our President, our governors and party leaders what they have done and will continue to do for us for a better Nigeria,” Ms Iliya said.
Many other supporters who shared their excitement however complained about the venue, Ranchers Bees Stadium, which they said was not big enough to contain thousands of supporters that turned out.
“This stadium is too small but we have to bear with the organisers who told us that the bigger one, Ahmadu Bello Stadium, is undergoing renovation work,” said Musa Mohammed, a supporter from Katsina State.
The rally is expected to bring together governors elected on the APC platform, members of the National Assembly, state legislators, party executives and other political stakeholders.
Supporters are also expected to use the gathering to express solidarity with the party’s leadership and demonstrate their commitment to its political programmes.
