The Nintendo Switch 2 has just been jailbroken with arbitrary code execution via the software exploit called "ns2jb" that was developed by Sammy Hajhamid, aka @pepsipu on X/Twitter. While arbitrary code execution is present, ns2jb is still limited (like other software jailbreaks) to within the first run of the jailbreak, meaning no modified code lingers after the console is turned off. I would imagine patching this first-of-its-kind Switch 2 exploit is a high priority concern for Nintendo, though its novelty could make it even more troublesome than it seems on the surface.
With a jailbroken Nintendo Switch 2, creating mods for Nintendo Switch 2 games becomes possible. This includes, as Hajhamid instructed Codex, inserting random crossover characters into Mario Kart World.
Broader mods or examples are not detailed, but ns2jb formally supports backing up Switch 1 and Switch 2 save files, as well as run homebrew software and mod Nintendo Switch 2 games. In theory ns2jb may even work for the original Nintendo Switch, but Hajhamid points out in his dev blog (linked in the Tweet below) that it would be inferior to existing modchips. After all, we've already seen full-blown Linux installs there.
i jailbroke the nintendo switch 2 so i modded cinnamoroll, peter griffin, hatsune miku, and more into Mario Kart World, a switch 2 exclusive now watch my friends and i get cooked by bots learn more and get the exploit https://t.co/ykjgyfrFRp https://t.co/BOcFhejRz1

In any case, it's cool that users can now modify their Nintendo Switch 2 hardware with ns2jb, should they choose to. After all, some players of PlayStation 5 games are already using fully-jailbroken consoles and may even use them for Grand Theft Auto VI. While I don't necessarily recommend it due to the possibility of hardware or account bans, the Nintendo Switch 2 is an expensive piece of hardware that you should largely feel free to do with as you please. After all, you did buy it. Just be mindful of the risks,
