We had a wonderful time sowing acorns with this year’s junior infants. It was a fantastic hands-on experience for the children to learn how a tiny seed grows into a mighty oak tree.
We talked about how important regular watering is to wake the acorns up and help them grow. Over the coming weeks, the children will keep a close eye on their pots as the acorns begin to push down strong roots into the soil to find food, followed by bright green shoots stretching up toward the sunlight. We can’t wait to see our little trees begin to sprout!
