Egyptian citizens have grown increasingly concerned over gasoline and diesel prices following decisions by the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products, as these prices directly impact transportation costs and the pricing of goods and services.
In an official statement issued in the middle of October, the Committee announced that prices for petroleum products would remain unchanged.
This decision followed a review of various local and global factors that influence pricing, including international oil prices and the exchange rate of the Egyptian pound against foreign currencies.
Committee’s Decision
The decision to maintain current petroleum product prices follows the resumption of the Automatic Pricing Committee’s operations, as ordered by the Cabinet.
The Committee reviewed both domestic and global economic variables—such as international oil price trends and pricing measures implemented over the preceding period—that influence fuel pricing.
This review encompassed the parameters of the pricing mechanism for the July to September quarter, compared to the previous quarter, ultimately resulting in the decision to keep existing prices unchanged.
Fuel Prices
According to the prices stipulated in the decision, the prices for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene per lite—as of, Saturday—are as follows:
- 92-octane gasoline: LE 22.25.
- 95-octane gasoline: LE 24.00.
- Diesel: LE 20.50.
- Kerosene: LE 20.50.
Prices for butane gas cylinders on Saturday:
- 12.5 kg domestic butane gas cylinder: LE 275.
- 25 kg commercial butane gas cylinder: LE 550.
