TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a former employee of a nursing care facility in Shinjuku Ward for assaulting and injuring an elderly resident, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 13).
According to Tokyo, Yuta Nishimura is accused of punching a woman in her 90s in the face and torso multiple times between October 4 and 5.
Upon his arrest, Nishimura admitted to the allegations, providing a disturbing motive for the unprovoked attacks.
“It was a way to relieve stress,” the suspect told investigators. “I felt a sense of superiority by inflicting violence on someone who was defenseless, and there was a thrill in wondering when I would get caught.”
Nishimura has already been dismissed from his position at the facility. Police are continuing their investigation, as they suspect his physical abuse of the elderly woman was a routine occurrence.
