Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) launched a new digital service on Sunday, October 18, 2026, enabling citizens to submit requests for the replacement of damaged and mutilated banknotes online.
The initiative, rolled out through Iraq’s unified national e-government portal “Ur,” aims to modernize statutory currency services, eliminate administrative red tape, and streamline banking procedures for the public.
According to an official statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the electronic platform permits applicants to register identification details, log damaged currency specifications, and upload necessary source-of-funds verification before routing submissions directly to the Issuance and Vaults Department at the central bank.
Once preliminary digital verification is concluded, users receive automated notifications and scheduled processing windows to complete in-person banknote swaps at designated CBI cash counters without undergoing manual application delays.
The monetary authority underscored that the platform forms part of a wider institutional drive toward comprehensive digital transformation and electronic banking integration. Citizens seeking to exchange damaged currency can lodge their applications through the dedicated portal link at (https://currency.app.cbi.iq).
