The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has threatened to strike communication cables passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Fars news agency reports.
"Underwater communication cables could become Iran's new targets," said Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesperson for the IRGC.
"Seven major underwater cables have been laid through the Strait of Hormuz, on which global internet traffic and commercial data transmission depend," he said.
Also, Mohebbi warned the US to refrain from any new attacks against the Islamic Republic.
"If the region becomes insecure for Iran, then there will be no security in the region for anyone," the Iranian general noted.
