The Washington Commandersface a major concern after Terry McLaurin suffered a serious knee injury during Monday night’s 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran wide receiver had an air cast placed on his leg before being carted off the field, raising concerns about his availability for the rest of the season.
The Commanders were without Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Marcus Mariota, Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Charles Omenihu against the 49ers because of injuries.
McLaurin’s diagnosis adds another significant loss to Washington’s offense.

McLaurin went down while running a route against 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir late in the first quarter. His left knee appeared to give way as he moved near the sideline, and he immediately grabbed the area in pain. The Commanders ruled him out for the remainder of the game.
“The concern now is that it could be significant, but that’s the concern tonight. It’s definitely something that there’s fear,” head coach Dan Quinn said after the loss.
Terry McLaurin’s injury creates a challenge for the Commanders
McLaurin has recorded 15 receptions for 230 yards and one touchdown this season despite missing Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts with a hamstring injury.
Washington selected the 31-year-old in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he has spent his entire career with the team.
The Commanders have a bye week before facing the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 1.
