Former UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is looking for big fights.
Since losing his title to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319, Du Plessis rebounded with a big win over ex-champ Kamaru Usman. Du Plessis' head coach Morne Visser made a case for a Du Plessis title shot, and the South African is eager to re-gain his throne.
Not only that, but Du Plessis (24-3 MMA, 10-1 UFC) wants to replicate what he achieved at KSW by becoming a two-division UFC champion.
"I want to get my belt back and eventually go up to 205 and go test myself there, and I'm certain that I will be a champion," Du Plessis said on "The Sias du Plessis Show." "I'm big enough for that division, and I'm certain I can be champion at that division, as well."
Du Plessis mapped out how he sees his goals panning out.
"I want that belt back, get a defense, and see if we do another one if there's any fight that makes sense," Du Plessis said. "Fighting for the belt, that is definitely – I'm fighting for the belt. I'm getting my belt back. Defense is going to be interesting to see what they come up with, and for as long as the middleweight division stays interesting, as long as the fights I have are interesting, people want to see it. The fights that are, like we talk about, that resume is important to who I fight. Yeah of course, then going up to 205. Not necessarily in 2027, but if the opportunity is there, it's there."
