By Zoila Palma: Prime Minister John Briceño says Belize is seeking international support for small and medium-sized farmers as his Government works to strengthen agriculture, protect livelihoods and safeguard food security.
In a video message shared on Facebook while attending the 2026 World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand, Briceño highlighted the importance of securing support that delivers tangible benefits for Belizeans.
“We are also seeking support for small and medium sized farmers they have endured repeated hardships, strengthening agriculture means protecting their livelihoods and our food security,” Briceño said.
Strengthening the sector is also essential to protecting the livelihoods of farming families and maintaining Belize’s ability to produce food.
Briceño said Belize’s delegation is working to ensure the country’s needs are heard and addressed during the international meetings, as the Government pursues partnerships and support for national development priorities.
