Christina Applegate said her health has only “gotten worse” in the wake of her multiple sclerosis misdiagnosis.
“You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better,” the actress explained on her “MeSsy” podcast Tuesday, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who suffers from MS.
“I haven’t gotten better, Jamie! If anything, I’ve gotten worse. So I’m back at square one where I don’t know what’s going on with me,” she candidly admitted.
The “Dead to Me” star shared that there is now going to be “an online investigation” for her doctors “to find out what has been going on since 2021,” the year she was misdiagnosed with MS.
At another point in the episode, Applegate emotionally confessed that she’s gone through “a great depression” because of her MS diagnosis and “lost everything.”
“I lost my job. I lost — I’m sorry. What do you say to someone who’s been living with this for six years — God, I’m so sorry — because it stopped my life.”
Applegate continued, “I still have to use wheelchairs when I go to the doctor’s office. I can’t walk from the car to the room. I’m still in this. Nothing magical happened when she said, ‘You don’t have MS.’ Nothing magical happened.”
On Tuesday, the “Married… with Children” alum revealed the shocking misdiagnosis.
“[My doctor] came into my room and said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS,’” the 54-year-old recalled through tears. “I was, like, not happy at all. Everybody else was so happy.”
Applegate also spoke candidly about how it felt to no longer be a part of the MS community she was once the “poster child” for.
“It’s weird because I feel like I let everybody down,” she admitted.
The Emmy winner also said she’s still in a “state of shock” over the misdiagnosis, calling it a “mindf—k.”
Applegate was discharged last month after a hospital stay that began in March.
The “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” actress hinted at her prolonged hospital stay during Tuesday’s podcast episode, noting she’s been dealing with “some health stuff,” but didn’t explicitly say what was wrong.
Besides her most recent hospital stay, the “Bad Moms” star has faced several health obstacles over the years.
In February, Applegate revealed she was confined to bed and still trying to take her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie LeNoble, to school, noting it’s her “favorite thing to do.”
“I tell myself, ‘Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.’ And that’s what I do,” she told People at the time.
“People’s lives, sorry for lack of a better term, f–king suck sometimes. So I’m being as honest and raw as I possibly can.”
