‘Allegations against Dr Bimol unacceptable’

IMPHAL, Oct 16 : The COCOMI Women Wing has categorically stated that the allegations levelled against Lok Sabha Member and former JNU Professor Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam are unbelievable and unacceptable.
Speaking to media persons at COCOMI office, Lamphelpat today, COCOMI Women Wing convenor Wahengbam Luwangleima said that they are not related with Congress or BJP in any manner.
However, levelling outlandish charges and victimising a promising public figure like Dr Bimol is unacceptable, she said.
She said that Dr Bimol who was serving as a teacher of higher education for around 30 years joined electoral politics amid a very turbulent situation and went on to become a Member of Parliament.
Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists were fully prepared for a propaganda warfare before they launched a widespread armed aggression against Meitei people on May 3, 2023.
Soon after Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists launched their armed aggression, Chin-Kuki groups launched an aggressive propaganda warfare and portrayed themselves as victims and the Meiteis, the real victims, as aggressor, she added.
Whereas Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists were armed to the teeth with all kinds of sophisticated weapons, Meiteis did not have even the most rudimentary arms at that time.
Nonetheless, some intellectuals including Dr Akoijam Bimol came out and punctured the Kuki narratives one after another. Luwangleima said.
Moreover, Dr Bimol presented the facts of the Kuki aggression in unequivocal terms in the Parliament, she recalled.
Levelling weird charges against such a public figure and dismissing him from his teaching profession without following due procedure is simply unacceptable, the COCOMI Women Wing convenor asserted.
“If Dr Bimol was truly guilty, we have nothing to day. COCOMI does not support any act of harassing women. If he is proven guilty, he should face punishment as per the law of the land”, Luwangleima said.
However, if Dr Bimol is found innocent like in the case of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who was imprisoned for quite a long period under a conspiracy hatched by RSS and BJP before he was acquitted by Court, COCOMI will launch a strong mass movement, she added.
