KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay Rulers have urged all parties not to interfere in or politicise the royal crisis involving the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, saying the dispute should be resolved by the relevant authorities through lawful channels.
In a statement issued today, the Malay Rulers cautioned against exploiting the issue for political gain, to garner support or to expand influence in pursuit of power.
They said contradictory and irresponsible statements would only aggravate the situation, heighten tensions, confuse the public and tarnish the dignity of the royal institution.
"The Malay Rulers urge all parties involved in the dispute over the throne of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan to prioritise wisdom, patience and respect for the customs, traditions and dignity of the royal institution," the statement said.
